This photo is special to me because of the joy it brings me every time I see it. My dog Peanut, who has since passed, had the funniest personality of any dog i’ve ever met. She was always a favorite of mine to photograph because I could always get silly photos like this one. I remember taking this photo at a time in my life where I could really use an excuse to laugh and smile ever once and awhile. This photo really gave that to me.

This photo has become a favorite of mine because of the story behind the piece. The photo itself was almost a complete accident! As were we settling in for the night and I had put away all of my camera gear to recharge for tomorrow, I saw a small herd of giraffes running across the plains. I quickly ran to the back of the truck to get my camera back out and try to capture a moment where the giraffe crossed the sunset. I almost completely missed the shot! I can’t imagine how devastated I would have been if I never got to take this beautiful shot.
