Analog

Throughout my college career, I spent the majority of my photographic studies learning about the history and functions of Analog Cameras. Learning about so many incredible artists who had to experiment with dangerous chemicals in order to develop any film. Obviously today, we as photographers have this art down to a T. I’m so grateful to have spent so many late nights (and early mornings) Working in and out of the dark room perfecting my film development, double exposure, cyanotypes, and torn emulsion techniques. I’ve had the chance to work with every type of film camera, including standing format 4×5 film down to the classic 35mm film cameras.

Editorial

Editorial photography incapsulates some of my favorite styles within photography. With editorial styles, I feel so much creative freedom when shooting and editing. I love exploring different ways of posing, and the addition of props to my shoots. However I really enjoy the editing process of editorial. Just being able to really put all of your ideas into a series of photos and seeing the outcome is really special. Getting creative with different settings within photoshop, and changing the colors of certain items or adding in things that were not previously there, I think it’s so much fun!

Wild Life

Wildlife photography I have always held close to my heart. Ever since I first discovered National Geographic, it has become my dream. The thought of making a career out of exploring the world and taking photos has always been inspiring to me. I find a lot of peace, and serenity in nature. I enjoy being around animals and hearing the birds in the sky.
Another aspect I love about wildlife photography is that it is very uncertain. A lot of shots including animals were taken with a lot of patience, and waiting around for the animal to be in shot or to move around. I find this part of the process so relaxing, as I love watching the interactions between animals and their environments, and trying to create a story within each of my photographs.

Portraits

Portrait photography is where the photographic journey began for me. It all started with a series of portraits of my dog Bella, that I would post every week to my instagram where I really started to develop a following. Each week I would try to come up with fun and new ideas of posing her and using props to make the photos really unique. This is also when I started doing brand deals for a lot of pet supplies, where I would come up with creative ways of posing Bella with a series of products.
I expanded a lot of my portrait photography later in high school, where I would do Senior portraits, Family portraits, and of course; Pet portraits! I really enjoy adding my own creative twist to my portraits, and want to keep expanding my portrait portfolio.

Sports

A big part of my life growing up was going to Detroit Red Wings games with my dad. I always loved Hockey games, and I loved Photography. However it never occurred to me that I could combine the two.
I’ve had the incredible opportunity of working directly with the head of photography for the Detroit Red Wings. During this time I got to learn the ins and outs of sports photography, the editing, and the whole day-to-day process. Shooting aside Dave to explore a new type of photography that was completely foreign to me.
This project was so much fun to create, and if given the opportunity again, I would love to keep exploring sports photography.
